Mark Quinn
President
Mark started skiing when he was around 5 years old at Lake Barrine on the Atherton Tablelands. He has been involved in most forms of watersport and is one of the skiers that still holds the world record for the number of skiers behind one boat. Mark rediscovered Tournament skiing when his children became involved. Mark and Virginia spent many January’s at the AJS events at Stony Park where they assisted with the camps and events. Since this date Mark has been involved in many facets of the sport from Queensland Team Manager through to his current role. Mark loves spending the weekend at Ski North and the many other sites just having a great time with the many friends they have met through the sport.

Gary Weidman
Vice President & Strategy Project Director
Gary Weidman is a retired International Oil & Gas Project Manager, having worked on mega projects in many locations worldwide. Gary is a longtime skier, official, and administrator who has contributed to the sport in both the US and Australia. He is an international level judge and driver, having been the Chief Driver of the IWWF World Championships, multiple Pro tournaments, and the Australia Nationals. Gary has been Chairman of the Water Ski Australia (WSA) Driver’s Committee since 2014, and Vice Chairman of WSA since April 2017.

Gaye Moroney
Treasurer
Gaye Moroney has been a dedicated member of the tournament water skiing community since 2012, bringing decades of experience and passion to the sport. Her long-standing commitment extends beyond the water, as she has served on the board of WB Hunter since 1996, showcasing her strong leadership and financial expertise.
As Treasurer of Waterski Australia, Gaye plays a crucial role in managing the organization’s financial health and sustainability. Her deep understanding of governance, budgeting, and financial strategy ensures the continued growth and success of water skiing in Australia. With a strong background in both business and sport, Gaye is committed to supporting athletes, officials, and clubs while helping to drive the future of tournament water skiing.

Pamela Appleton
Secretary & Strategy Project Director
Pamela Appleton serves as the Secretary for WSA, bringing over 34 years of experience in corporate management, with expertise in operational strategy and people management. Her husband sparked her passion for water skiing through social skiing, and it grew deeper as she supported her daughters’ journey into tournament skiing in 2019. Although she didn’t grow up with the sport, Pamela developed a strong connection to it as she watched her daughters compete and build lasting friendships. At tournaments, she is a familiar face in the scoring tower, doing what she loves. Pamela has played a key role in implementing the EMS system, training new scorers, and warmly welcoming new members, reflecting her dedication to the sport and the community.

Bruce Cockburn
Director Technical & Member & Engagement Lead
Bruce won Australia’s first individual gold medal at the World Championships. He represented Australia at the World Championships from 1969 to 1977 and was the Men’s World Trick Champion in 1969. In 1985 Bruce was inducted into the Australian Sports Hall of Fame and in 1996 he was inducted into the Golden Anniversary International Hall of Fame. He is an AWWF Board member and the Technical Director of Water Ski Australia.

Rachelle Ashcroft
Director Participation & Pathways
Rachelle Ashcroft brings a wealth of experience to her role as Director of Participation & Pathways, combining her deep passion for water skiing with a strong commitment to fostering athlete development and engagement. With 36 years of involvement in tournament skiing, Rachelle has firsthand knowledge of the sport at all levels, from grassroots participation to high-performance competition. Throughout her career, Rachelle has played a pivotal role in creating pathways that support athletes, coaches, and officials, ensuring sustainable growth and accessibility within the sport. Her strategic leadership focuses on increasing participation across all age groups, enhancing development programs, and strengthening the competitive framework to help skiers reach their full potential.
A respected figure in the water skiing community, Rachelle is dedicated to building inclusive environments and providing opportunities for athletes to thrive. Her extensive experience, both on and off the water, continues to shape the future of tournament skiing, inspiring the next generation of competitors.

Kylie Hayes
Director Officials Education & Support
Kylie became involved in the officiating side of water skiing when her children began competing in 2015. Based in the Riverina region of New South Wales, she has developed a deep passion for the sport and a commitment to fostering excellence in officiating.
Kylie has judged at regional, national, and international world tournaments, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to her role. As the Director of Officials Education & Support, she is dedicated to mentoring and supporting officials at all levels, ensuring the highest standards of fairness and professionalism in water ski competitions. Her leadership plays a vital role in the ongoing development of officials, helping to grow and strengthen the sport both in Australia and on the world stage.

Ryan Green
Director Coaching Education & Support
Ryan has been involved in the sport of tournament water skiing for 40 years and has represented Australia 12 times at World Championships.
Ryan now focuses on coaching, working with all levels from grass root skiers right through to the elite.

Jamie Mitchell
Director Communication & Promotion
Jamie is dedicated to Waterski Australia with a lifelong passion for the sport. Having started skiing at the age of 5, Jamie has been competing in tournament water skiing for the past 15 years.
His family’s involvement in the waterskiing community extends beyond competition, having served as the president of Water ski South Australia for 10 years. Jamie works to grow the sport, engage audiences, and create impactful campaigns that drive awareness, participation, and sponsorship opportunities.

Steve Bickerton
Director Accessibility & Sustainability
Steve has been a passionate water skier since being taught to ski by his neighbours as a teenager on the Hawkesbury River. Being an active member of the sport, spending many weekends at Myuna Bay through the 80’s and 90’s and now at Stoney Park, Steve is also Senior Vice President of TWSNSW and a member of Stoney Park Water Ski Club. He has also been NSW team Manager at the last two Australian National Championships and is an active judge, driver and homologator. Steve pairs his passion and love for waterskiing with his project management and business expertise. Steve’s holistic experience in developing new water ski facilities enables him to work with new clubs and individuals, empowering the sport to grow nationwide.
